What an anxious or curious parent needs to hear is an assuring and informative response to their questions and concerns. That is exactly what Meg did for thousands of parents at BANANAS, and for decades. With her graceful and welcoming radiance, she sat at a workshop table as if we were in her living room. Together, she spoke with parents about the challenges and joys of parenthood.
Pediatric nurse practitioner, family counselor, mother, author, and all-around inspiring teacher, Meg was an integral member of our parent education program who contributed her time and expertise generously. Some of her popular classes included Living with 1 and 2 Year Olds and Living with 3 and 4 Year Olds. In these classes, parents would ask their burning questions and present their quandaries, and then soak up her extensive knowledge and advice in order to create a plan of next steps or simply readjust the lens in which they were viewing the situation. She really made parents feel at ease with her calm tone and with a trust that parents DO know best. With some coaching and support—parents have what it takes to understand and guide their children.
Meg’s private practice supported families as they raised their children to be happy, healthy individuals. Much of her parenting advice can be found at Bringing Up Kids BANANAS feels extremely fortunate to have worked with Meg all these years and appreciates her wisdom, sense of humor, and affection for Bay Area families and children. She is truly missed and her memory will live on at BANANAS.
